HEAD MARKETING, JUBILEE HEALTH INSURANCE

My journey from a bank teller to Head of Marketing at the region’s leading health insurer speaks volumes about determination, the pursuit of dreams, and perseverance through challenges. It is a narrative not just of career progression, but of unwavering self-drive, commitment to excellence, and rejection of mediocrity. While some may label my dedication as workaholism, I view it as a reflection of passion and relentless pursuit of excellence in all endeavours.

My childhood dream was to become a doctor, but that quickly changed when I discovered I could not stand the sight of blood. Uncertainty about my career path loomed, yet fate led me to my initial role as a bank teller.

Growing up in a Christian household instilled in me the belief that diligent work, especially when imbued with a sense of serving a greater purpose, yields its rewards. This belief became the cornerstone of my professional journey, shaping my conviction that each task is a divine assignment demanding utmost dedication – a lesson instilled by my late mother.

With this mindset, I navigated through diverse roles: starting as a teller at a former Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) branch, then transitioning into customer service, relationship management, and business development. I further advanced to the role of Marketing Manager at Credit Bank, culminating in my current position as Head of Marketing at Jubilee Health Insurance.

In terms of education, I pursued Economics at Egerton University, which provided a unique lens for understanding the marketing world. Colleagues often joked that I ‘think like an economist but act like a marketer’. This background, coupled with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Marketing from the United States International University – Africa (USIU-A), equipped me with a robust skill set and a passion for my field. My dedication to delivering exceptional customer experiences has been pivotal to my success, earning recognition and awards for projects both locally and internationally.

Wherever I find myself, success is a given, underpinned by my steadfast belief that every workplace challenge holds a solution. I have earned the moniker ‘the marketer with a Midas touch’. For me, marketing goes beyond mere promotion; it is about understanding customer needs deeply, crafting solutions that resonate, and ensuring our message is crystal clear and relatable. Accessibility is paramount, seamlessly integrating our offerings into customers’ daily lives. Ultimately, it is about fostering authentic connections, building trust, and delivering tangible value to both businesses and consumers.

The most heartwarming moment in my professional journey came with the recent recognition by the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), where I was named Marketer of the Year 2023. This honour was not just a personal triumph but a touching validation of years of hard work, dedication, and countless hours striving for excellence in an ever-evolving industry. From a humble village upbringing, let this stand as a powerful message to every girl: dreams, no matter their size or challenge, can indeed come true with unwavering dedication, passion, and full commitment.

It proves that barriers can be overcome, limits shattered, and goals achieved with relentless pursuit. I hope my story serves as a guiding light, showing that with the right mindset, determination, and effort, achieving dreams is not just possible but inevitable.

I enjoy playing golf when I get time, it offers me a sanctuary for reflection and rejuvenation. It is a reminder of the beauty of nature and the importance of taking moments for oneself.

At my core, my drive and inspiration intertwine deeply with my faith, family values, and a life lived intentionally and passionately. I see every opportunity, talent, and achievement as gifts meant to be used with integrity and purpose. Treating others with fairness, kindness, and compassion is integral to who I am. Having witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of kindness, I am committed to being a source of positivity and empathy in both personal and professional interactions. My family serves as my greatest supporters, their unwavering love and belief in me propelling me to overcome challenges and strive for excellence in every aspect of my life. They constantly remind me of life’s true priorities, inspiring me to approach each day with purpose and passion.

I believe that the world is a vast playground, filled with endless opportunities waiting to be explored, conquered, and turned into remarkable stories. I am incredibly excited about the milestones yet to be achieved and the impact I aspire to make. My ambition knows no bounds, and I aim to leave a legacy that transcends boundaries, reaching heights worthy of the Guinness World Records. So, watch this space, because extraordinary adventures and accomplishments are awaiting on the horizon.
